Once again we enjoyed a fantastic night glow at the balloon fiesta on Thursday 11th August with over 50 members in attendance at our exclusive pod. Drinks were flowing and the balloons in our pod really set off those outside. Sadly it wasn’t possible to launch the interesting shaped balloons on that evening, but the balloonists did put on a spectacular show for the night glow with all of the balloons lighting up in time to the music. For those that haven’t been, BJC members are allowed to wander in amongst the balloons (although several were put to work holding some of the baskets down!). The fireworks that followed also held everyone in raptures.
The BJC was a founder of the Balloon Fiesta, with the first one being held in 1979. We sold the rights when it became too large for us as an organisation to manage but to this day we continue to enjoy close links and provide volunteers for the event, where c.100,000 people attend each year. A special thank you to Gemma Alaway and her team for organising our own night glow event and to our sponsors, Quilter Cheviot.
