FAQs
Can I become a member of the BJC?
To become one of our members, you need to be living or working in the wider Bristol region and under the age of 40.
Why should I become a member?
We’re one of the most well-known and widely respected organisations for young professionals in Bristol. As a member, you can network, build your business connections and develop new skills, all whilst making lifelong friendships!
You’ll also be able to enjoy all the exclusive events on offer throughout the year, from black tie dinners to skills workshops and light-hearted sporting events, and everything in between.
Am I welcome to join the BJC?
We are committed to being a progressive and inclusive organisation. Our Chair of ED&I and the wider Council of Management work hard to make sure all our meetings and events are accessible and welcoming to all young professionals across Bristol. We regularly gather feedback from our members so we can deliver the fun and interesting opportunities they’re looking for. If you have any special requirements, our Council is always on hand to speak to and we’ll always do our best to accommodate your needs.
How do I join?
How is the BJC run?
We are run by a Council of Management that is elected every year from BJC’s membership. The Council’s roles span from organising our many events throughout the year, to our charitable and philanthropic work and maintaining our role representing young professionals with Business West. You can find out more about our Council here.
Why should employers support the BJC?
Being part of the BJC helps young professionals to develop their networking skills and make connections in the wider Bristol business community.
We are proud to have the support of some of the largest employers in Bristol, who have seen first hand the value that membership can offer their teams.
What happens to my membership when I turn 40?
We have a fantastic and active alumni group – Club 39 – who take part in many BJC events whilst also organising their own networking activities.
What makes the BJC stand out?
We have been around since 1948 helping to shape, connect and support the city’s future leaders, with a growing and diverse membership spanning a range of professional sectors.
Our long-standing connections to the City Council, Business West and other organisations that are central to the region’s long-term success have helped us to establish ourselves as a strong voice within the professional and civic community. This has also underpinned our role in creating and contributing to some of the city’s most iconic events.
