How long have you been a member of the BJC?

I joined the organisation in 2019 after moving to Bristol a couple of years earlier. I then joined the Council of Management in 2020 as Chair of Marketing, PR and Social media, a role I held for two years before becoming Vice President in 2022. In 2023, I became President which was an absolutely brilliant experience.

I’m so pleased to still be on the Council as Immediate Past President. The 2024-2025 team, with Emma Carter as President, have made sure we’ve had some fantastic plans and activities in the diary so far, and I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the rest of the year.

Why did you join?

I heard about BJC through some friends who had been members for a couple of years. As we were new to the city, me and a friend from university (Hannah Cole, who then also joined the Council with me!) decided to go to Spring Drinks. I became a member shortly after and have since found it to be such a brilliant way to get to know the city and to meet new people. There is always something fun and interesting to get involved in, and our monthly meetings feature guest speakers who tell us about local businesses, initiatives, charities, social issues and events.

Outside of work and the BJC what do you like to do with your spare time?

I like to keep active and enjoy running, weight training and walking. I’ve just completed my first HYROX, so I think that’s going to become a bit of a hobby…! Other than that, you’ll probably find me either out and about with my pals, nestled in my reading chair with a good book, or FaceTiming my gorgeous nephew and twin nieces (who live in Ireland).

Do you have a favourite event on the BJC calendar?

That’s a hard question! There’s just always so many brilliant things going on to choose from – Spring Drinks, rounders, Averys wine tasting, Balloon Fiesta, Annual Dinner… I think I would have to say Members’ Dinner as it always feels like such a lovely celebration of our organisation and our members.

What’s the best thing about Bristol?

I’ve been in Bristol for over six years now and I love it, and I think there’s so much more to discover as well. I like that it’s almost a mini version of London (where I used to live), with different and very distinct areas that have their own identities. But unlike London, you can walk to a lot of places across the city centre. I think I’d have to say my favourite thing is the food scene, though. The celebration of independent bars and eateries here is fantastic, which means you are absolutely spoiled for choice!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

In 2019, I climbed the rigging of the SS Great Britain… with BJC of course!
