How long have you been a member of the BJC?

I joined BJC at the beginning of the 2024 so, rapidly approaching my one-year anniversary.

Why did you join?

I had heard so many people talk about BJC and, after returning from an 18-month career/travel break, thought it would be a great way to get back into the Bristol network and meet some new people in similar industries. With so many events and opportunities on offer – it really is a great community to be part of. There’s something to cater for everyone from Running Club, to Film Club to Wine Club.

Outside of work and the BJC what do you like to do with your spare time?

I love being outdoors and spend a lot of my time cycling, running, and hiking. My biggest achievements this year include completing Brighton Marathon and taking part in Break the Cycle 100km ride. I also love cooking and baking and hosting friends for a feast.

Do you have a favourite event on the BJC calendar?

As a newbie to BJC, I am still learning all about the different events on offer, but this year I have really enjoyed the Bristol Bears Rugby, the Charity Cricket match and am really looking forward to the Christmas party.

What’s the best thing about Bristol?

Choosing one thing is actually pretty difficult. There are so many reasons why I love Bristol – the independent food scene, the variety of gigs and live music events, the great cycling routes, the proximity to the coast and the hills. I may be biased but, I love Bristol.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

In May 2022, I took a year and a half out of work, jumped on my bicycle, clocked up 8000kms and cycled to India via 15 countries. It was probably the maddest, but also one of the best life decisions I have ever made, and I still think about it now on the daily. It may be cliché, but you only get to live your life once, so always make sure you do the thing you have the burning desire to do.
