Around two years.
A few of my colleagues were already members and they kept going to lots of really interesting and fun events which didn’t sound like typical ‘networking’ events. I went to the Spring Drinks as a guest of one of my colleagues – everyone was so lovely, and I signed up shortly afterwards. The BJC is a great way to grow your network across Bristol in a very enjoyable way.
I love being outside running, hiking and mountaineering. I also love travelling and food. In the last couple of years, I’ve climbed Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua (two of the seven summits – being the tallest mountains in their respective continents) and I spend a lot of my free weekends in the Brecon Beacons.
Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, of course!
Too many things to choose just one but a few of my favourites are: the many wonderful independent restaurants and coffee shops, the balloon fiesta, the coloured houses, and the harbour (either running around it or having drinks on it in the Summer).
Over the last few years, I have been heavily involved in campaigning on the national building safety crisis as part of the campaign group, End Our Cladding Scandal (due to my flat having a number of fire safety defects that were discovered post-Grenfell). As part of this, I’ve done numerous TV, radio and print media interviews including speaking live on Newsnight and featuring on the headline story of BBC News at Six.
